Inspirational Executive Presence

I have known Dr. Robinson for well over 10 years in the position of Dean of the School of Honors at Benedict College, while I was an assistant professor there. I immediately recognized him as a leader when I arrived on campus. The programs he developed for honors students, as well as his presence on campus as a senior leader, drew me to seek mentorship and guidance from him as a young professor. During my time at Benedict, I have had the opportunity to watch him successfully recruit, orient, and retain Honors College students who not only graduate with distinction but move on to graduate, medical, and law school. I have had the opportunity to serve as one of his Honors professors and grasped his vision to promote programming to a diverse set of students that enhances and integrates their educational experiences across multiple domains that include health and well-being, academic success, and student engagement through academic enrichment programs, and developing a learning community among his students in the honors college.

His reach extended beyond Honors College to the wider campus community, and his leadership and ideas were integral to the development of a Freshman Institute, a program that served to orient and assist first-year college students in their acclimation and their adjustment to college life. Dr. Robinson has a rich history of service and has operated in diverse roles that augment his leadership style and speak to the depth of his knowledge and skill set. His dedication to diversity and inclusion and ability to create an atmosphere of trust and safety for students under his charge was impressive and inspiring to say the least. He is a valued member of Benedict’s leadership team, and though a significant transition has occurred over the past year at the college, he remains one of the top administrative staff at the college.
